Chocolate cake, gems and kitkat! Who would not love this cake? I had made this cake on mother’s day. This looks so amazing and tastes so delicious, you can bake it for your family or friends on any special occasion! The base is a chocolate cake so you can follow any standard chocolate cake recipe. The chocolate cake recipe I have shared here is eggless, but you can make it with eggs if you want. The chocolate ganache recipe is by far the easiest and basic and you may add in 1 tsp of butter to make your ganache richer. The key to this cake is the decoration with gems and kitkat, it is really easy, you just need some patience making the kitkat fence! Try this out and be assured this will bring plenty of smiles.
INGREDIENTS:
For the cake:
1. 1 cup flour
2. ¼ cup cocoa powder
3. ½ cup condensed milk
4. ¼ cup caster sugar
5. 1 stick of butter
6. 1 tsp baking powder
7. 1 tsp baking soda
8. ½ cup milk
9. 1 tsp vanilla essence
For the chocolate ganache:
1. ½ cup heavy cream
2. 200 g of chocolate cut into chunks
For decoration:
1. 6 boxes of kitkat (I needed 24)
2. 2 packets of gems
METHOD:
1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius and grease an 8 inch baking pan.
2. In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar till fluffy. Whisk in condensed milk and combine them well.
3. In another bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda.
4. Add in the creamy butter mixture and mix well so that everything is well-combined.
5. Pour the batter into the greased pan and with a spatula even the top.
6. Bake for about 35 minutes or till the skewer comes out clean.
7. Take out of the oven, keep aside to let it cool.
8. For the chocolate ganache, heat the cream. Make sure it does not bowl. Turn off the blame just before it comes to boil.
9. Add the chopped chocolate to the warm cream and once the chocolate starts to melt, stir and blend it with the cream.
10. Now coat your cake with ganache.
11. Stick the kitkat bars one by one to form a fence. Put the gems on the surface of the cake.
12. Your beautiful and delicious cake is ready!
TIPS: Instead of chocolate ganache you may use chocolate icing. Works equally well!
