I’ve always found Prawn Cocktails served at restaurants fancy and classy. I had Prawn Cocktail recently at Kwality, an old classic favourite located in Park Street, Kolkata. Once bite into the deliciously prepared prawns and I knew I HAD to re-create it at home! I used prawns but you can use shrimps as well! It is really easy- all you need is Mayo, Tomato Ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce! You can buy Worcestershire Sauce from any grocery store. Remember to wash and clean the prawns or shrimps really well before making the dish. Serve these for appetizers at your next party, and start the meal on a high note.
INGREDIENTS:
1.250 g Prawns, peeled and cooked (I lightly sauted the prawns in butter)
2.1 tomato, de-seeded and chopped into cubes
3.1 iceberg lettuce, chopped into shreds
4.2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
5.4 tbsp Mayonnaise
6.1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
7.2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
8.1 lime- Keep half aside for use and the remaining half slice it into 4 and decorate your cocktail glasses
9.Pepper to taste
10.Salt to taste
METHOD:
1.In a bowl mix the lettuce, tomato and coriander. Add salt and pepper as per taste. Squeeze a few drops of lime and mix well. Take cocktail glasses. Fill the bottom of the glasses with the salad.
2.Mix mayo, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce in another bowl. Add in the prawns and mix well.
3.Scoop the prawns onto the glass over the salad. Season with salt and pepper. Add a dash of lime.
4.Decorate the glasses with lime slices and serve.
TIPS: In case you don’t get time to buy Worcestershire Sauce, add 1 tsp soy sauce, ½ tsp lime juice and 2 drops of Tobasco Sauce.
