Chicken Farcha or Parsi Style Fried Chicken is a popular, traditional and mouth watering delicious Parsi dish, served as a starter or appetiser. It is really easy to cook, loaded with flavours, you’ll surely love it! The recipe I’m sharing is not my own, but one which has been used by our family for years and is by far the best Chicken Farcha recipe to follow!
INGREDIENTS:
1. 6-8 pieces chicken leg pieces and thighs (Skin removed and washed)
2. 4 eggs
3. 1 cup bread crumbs
4. Oil for deep frying
For marinade:
1. 2 garlic cloves, chopped and crushed
2. 1 inch ginger, chopped and crushed
3. ½ tsp cumin powder
4. ½ tsp pepper powder, 1 tbsp lemon juice, Salt to taste
METHOD:
1. Make slits on the chicken pieces with a knife and marinate in the spices and ingredients mentioned above overnight.
2. Beat the eggs well and keep aside. Dip the chicken pieces one by one in the egg mixture and then coat them with breadcrumbs.
3. Heat oil in a kadai or pan. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through (roughly fry for 2-3 minutes).
4. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
5. Cover the chicken with a foil and place them in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes.
6. Serve hot.
TIPS: Serve with a bowl of fresh green salad, or simple raita or mint raita and enjoy the tasty fried chicken!
