Button mushrooms coated in a sweet and spicy sauce! Serve this irresistible starter at your next get-together!
INGREDIENTS:
- 250 g button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chillies finely chopped
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion, extra for garnish
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
- 1 tsp soya sauce
- 2 tbsp maida
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- Water
- Salt to taste
- White oil
METHOD:
- Put maida and cornflour in a bowl. Add water to make a thin batter. Drop and coat the mushrooms in the batter.
- Heat oil in a frying pan.
- Fry the mushrooms till they turn golden brown. Keep aside.
- In a pan heat oil. Add ginger-garlic paste, chillies and onion and saute till translucent.
- Add salt, soya sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup and mix well. Add the mushrooms and make sure they are evenly coated in sauce.
- Add the spring onion and toss well and cook for about a minute.
- Take off heat. Garnish with a tbsp of spring onion and serve hot.
TIPS: Serve with hakka noodles or fried rice.
